Leading with Creativity

Wow, what a whirlwind the last week has been!

Thank you all so very much for all your messages of support and love following the announcement last week regarding my new venture into an exciting new creative endeavour. I’m definitely feeling the love and I am beyond grateful to all of you.

As I mentioned last week, I have been working quietly on a brand-new passion project that I believe will impact other people's lives as much as it has my own.

Over the last week, I’ve had so many friends reach out for information about the Creative Vision Quest project that I’ve been working on – so I thought I would share a little background on my personal journey to what seems like a radical reset.

The Creative Vision Quest program was born out of a personal desire to “re-create” the life of my dreams…

During the lockdown in early January of this year, I spent two weeks in self-isolation (for the first time in my life!) after returning from a trip to Costa Rica to see my Mom, who was very sick. That two weeks of self-isolation was later followed by a week where I moved out of my home as an emergency accommodation for my Mom and Stepdad, who needed to self-isolate after their emergency return to Canada.

With limited options available during lockdown, my dear friend Paula Lishman offered me accommodation on her amazing property on Purple Hill.

I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to live and work in the forest and stayed in a yurt, a rustic cabin, and even a treehouse during my stay. The accommodations had very limited amenities, and only a wood stove to keep me warm during the chilly early spring weather. It was an incredible experience!

It was remarkable how that time alone afforded me the opportunity to step back from the world and think about life that I wanted to create for myself.

I took myself through a process which I refer to as my Creative Vision Quest. For me, the quest was all about freeing my creative spirit and exploring ways to leverage my talents and experiences to truly make a difference in the world. For the Greater Good.

The question that I kept asking myself was: How can I serve at the highest level?

The Creative Vision Quest that emerged from my time alone involves meditation and movement, creative visualization and mind-mapping, and expressive artwork and goal setting. The whole experience was an incredible gift. It was the culmination of years of self-exploration and a deep desire to constantly be learning and growing. It’s a mash-up of learnings taken from intense life experiences and hundreds of self-help books, courses, and extraordinary experiences such as fire-walks, Navy Seal surf-torture, ice-challenges, intuitive painting workshops, yoga and meditation retreats around the world, sacred ceremonies with shamans, and the list goes on and on.

It's incredible what happens when you take the time to quiet down and listen – magic happens!

When was the last time you re-evaluated your personal vision?

I found that after I was able to get clarity around my personal yearnings, dreams and creative desires, I felt a greater sense of freedom, purpose, clarity and inspiration. But above all, I felt grounded.

I’d be happy to share this personal process with anyone who is interested, if it would be helpful to you. Let’s face it, after a year and a half of lockdown and separation from family, friends, and community, we all need to re-imagine our worlds in one way or the other.

Not everyone is an artist with a degree in fine arts and a regular art practise. But, whether we realize it or not, I believe that we are all creative Beings. And, when we slow down long enough to breathe, get grounded, and really “tap in” – you’d be surprised what creative talent emerges.

Art and creativity have always been a powerful way to tap into our emotions and our creative nature often taking us on a healing journey. Looking forward to sharing more on this in the coming months…

If you are seeking an opportunity to step back, re-evaluate, tap into your creative self and re-imagine what your best life could look like, reach out to me. I’m looking forward to sharing this exciting program in the coming months!
